Unwanted red skin spots and visible blood vessels are extremely unpleasing to the eye. At Lebow Dermatology we have perfected Laser Skin resurfacing methods to remove these blemishes and irritations from the skin’s surface.
Using a high-energy laser beam we are able to peel away these blemishes and rid the body of them for good, no matter the severity or part of the body they may present themselves.
How Skin Spots develop?
When a blood vessel bursts, a small amount of blood leaks into the body and can become visible from just beneath the skin’s surface. Blood vessels generally burst as a result of injury or some form of trauma. Bleeding into the skin can appear as small dots, or in large flat patches. A good way to test these blood spots is to press down on your skin. Normally when you press down on the skin it becomes pale, and when you let go, the redness or color returns. When there is bleeding into the skin, the skin will not become pale.
What are Spider Veins?
Enlarged or blood vessels that are visible at the surface of the skin are often known as Spider Veins. Spider veins are the presence of red or blue veins protruding outside the skin, most commonly found on the legs. These are often caused by heredity, hormone imbalances, sun exposure, aging and much more. These factors cause a type of blockage or clogging along veins causing them to be exposed and show through the skin.
Laser Skin Resurfacing for Removal of Spider Veins and Skin Spots
Using non-invasive laser technology, we can precisely send a beam of light energy directly into the skin, targeting each and every vein. The light energy is directly shot into the vein, breaking down the clogged blood vessel. The once clogged vein is then absorbed into the body and disappears from the skin’s surface.
Using a similar principle, we are able to remove different types of spots from the skin’s surface as well. The laser light energy is sent directly into the skin, causing cellular turnover. The energy from the laser stimulates the skin’s natural production of collagen and eliminates the dead skin cells from the skin’s outer layer. It can also break up any clogged or pooled-up blood that is sitting at the surface of the skin. This blood will no longer be visible, and a fresh new layer of skin cells is produced at the site of the former blemish.
Laser Skin Resurfacing is relatively pain-free, most patients have compared the sensation of the laser to that of a light pinch or the snap of a rubber band.
Side Effects
There are very few side effects to laser skin resurfacing, occasionally patients have some redness and some peeling of skin, but this will generally pass within a few days.
