Genetic skin disorders, or genodermatoses, are fairly rare, however they can cause many irritations along the skin and have no acute reason for outbreak. They can be caused by the mutation of a single inherited gene.
Common Genetic Skin Disorders
Some of the most common inherited skin disorders include:
- Certain Skin Cancer (more so the likelihood of occurring)
- Lupus
- Acne
- Psoriasis
- Hives
- Warts
- Carbuncle
- Hyperhidrosis
There are many other types of genetic skin disorders as well, but they are usually much more rare.
Treatment
Diagnosis and treatment of genetic skin disorders is similar to any other skin issue, however some of them don’t have a full cure. For disorders without a permanent cure, such as Psoriasis, we generally offer treatment options to manage breakouts and occurrences. Most often genetic or non-genetic skin disorders are treated through the use of topical creams or ointments, as well as some antibiotics.
